I took little guy to the park last night after I got off work. Weather was perfect. Sun was still out. He loved it. I'm happy I had my camera with me. I got to capture that smile of his. That smile that I think about 24/7.

Have a Happy 4th & Stay Cool!! It's supposed to be close to the 100's in the DC area so I'm thinking POOL!!!

Cute gap outfit, that is still too big on my skinny guy.

and my weekend was perfect. I had a couple hours to myself on Sunday and I kept it simple. I went to Trader Joes for pretty flowers and soap! :)

Stress = Mess

Monday, April 25, 2011
I have not updated my blog in a while. I have had a lot on my mind.

When things do not go as planned I feel like the walls around me start caving in. When one area of my life isn't going as I want it to go, then it starts to affect other areas of my life. STRESS.

Our lease is coming to an end in our apartment.
our first home.
but now we have a baby AND we want another child,
we need more space,
we want a house.
The process is not going as planned.
STRESS.

With the home buying process not going as planned it has just opened a can of worms. We are not where we want to be with our housing situation, we are not where we want to be with our financial situation, we are not where we want to be as parents (we wish we could spend more time with our little guy), and we are not where we want to be in our marriage. Sleep deprivation leads to mean words coming out of our both our mouths. Oh Aaron, please continue to sleep through the night. Last night was the 3rd night in a row he has, that means we're on to something, right?

One of my favorite blogger is Katie Bower, a while ago she recommended a book called  One Thousand Gifts by Ann Vosokamp. Last night in bed, I ordered it on my kindle app. I felt my life was a mess. I kept thinking that I need to be able to breathe. I know our "problems" compared to others are minuscule, but they are still stressing me out. I know we are extremely blessed, we have a roof over our heads, and food on our table so why am I letting these things affect me so much?

I am on Chapter 4 of One Thousand Gifts, and I can already tell, it will help me change my outlook on things. The book points out a verse in Psalm:

"We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothings" Psalm 39:6

I need to relax. Enjoy life more. Enjoy my Family. Get closer to God. Quit worrying and rushing cause it's a waste of MY time, it ends in nothing!!!

The book has already reminded me to be thankful because I have so much to be thankful for!

Please keep us in your prayers, that if things are God's will that they will work in his favor in his time for my family, and that we ALWAYS remember to be grateful FIRST.

Here is another excerpt from the the book that struck me:

"On every level of life, from housework to heights of prayer, in all judgement and efforts to get things done, hurry and impatience are sure marks of the amateur."

My favorite, is her reference to Genesis 28:16:

"Surely the LORD is in this place, and I was not aware of it!"  Genesis 28:16

DUH!!!! I feel so ungrateful! Time to pray.

Time just flies by!

Whew! I actually have time to blog! These past 2 months have been a whirlwind, actually this whole year so far, has been a whirlwind and I hardly have time to catch my breath.

What have I been up to?
Well I got a mobile baby who is crawling and standing and trying to walk. He is still not sleeping through the night. So by the time I get home I am constantly taking turns with hubby watching him while cooking dinner & trying to tidy up the apt. a bit. The lil guy goes down at 7:30pm but by then we're just as beat as he is! So I rather sit on the couch & watch TV or chat with the hubby than do anything else.

I also got a new phone! An android phone and have been having fun with a couple photo apps I have downloaded like FX camera, Retro camera, Photo Wonder & RMP movie recorder, SUPER FUN!! Here's a pic taken with the FX camera app:

I have also been in party planning mode!! Little guy turns 1 next month, I can not believe it!!! I ordered a super hero printable pack from AndersRuff on Etsy, featured on Hostess with the Mostess. Sneak peak:

and my car was in an accident. My mom was doing me a favor the other day and was using my car when she rear-ended someone, thankfully everyone was OK! Car is now in the shop. Here's a pic of the minor damage:

Aaaaand our lease is up on May 1st, and we still haven't decided if we want to move or not yet, so that just means more chaos! eh c'est la vie!
Whew!!!

My husband is a shoe collector! what is that?

Well he has over 200 pairs of mostly Nike Shoes: Jordan's, Lebron's, etc....
He has been starting a little collection for the little guy too and even though this habit annoys me sometimes, it is sooo cute to see their shoes together!

Lebrons

By the way I took that pic!!! on semi-manual mode!!! Manual Focus Baby!!! I am getting better at using my camera. I had the blinds all the way open to bring the sun in and that just made it easy! so note to self, let in all light for great pics!

The Year of Happiness Challenge

Tuesday, October 12, 2010
I decided to sign up for the Happiness Challenge. What is the Happiness Challenge? it is:
A “happiness project” is an approach to changing your life. First is the preparation stage, when you identify what brings you joy, satisfaction, and engagement, and also what brings you guilt, anger, boredom, and remorse. Second is the making of resolutions, when you identify the concrete actions that will boost your happiness. Then comes the interesting part: keeping your resolutions.

You will be seeing posts on my resolutions, lists and progress and maybe you'll be motivated to start your own!

New favorite show on TLC: The Little Couple - It's funny to see the things he gets annoyed at cause my husband is the same!

Is everyone having sextuplets?

I need HBO – What is this True Blood everyone is talking about?

Husband’s 30th is coming up - Can’t Wait!

Just got a MacBook Pro a couple weeks ago & I am in LOVE! I am discovering new applications and am just oooing and ahhhing.

And I am happy to see Benjamin Bratt back on TV on the cleaner – the show is ok but he is hot!

I was surprised I cared about:

Kendra from Girls Next Door being pregnant. I am a Eagles fan but never heard of her Fiance - oops!

Duggars: Josh & Anna are expecting too!

Home:

Making a cleaning schedule because my life is chaos and so is my apartment

And Etsy for home décor - uh YES! I’ll be posting my cute home finds soon.

Weekend Recap & What the hell is a Budget?

Monday, May 18, 2009
This has been a stressful week! My father was hospitalized last week with some rare bug and had to get surgery but I am happy because he is recovering quickly and was released today!

Hubby went out of town for a week and comes back on Wednesday for a nice long memorial day weekend which is also our 1 year anniversary! YAY :)

We most likely are not going anywhere since 1. the H1N1 is still out there! 2. I'm planning Hubby's 30th birthday celebration and 3. I'm trying to go see Hillsong in concert on 6/1 which means I need to budget!

The word Budget is foreign to me, I will admit I am not good at money management but it's something I'm trying to change because we have plans and because hubby and I have been thinking about merging bank accounts. EEK!

Since I'm clueless when it comes to Money, my dear friend, themommychase, recommended I check out mint.com and let me just say AMAZING! You enter in your info and it does all the work for you! Mint tells you when you are over budget, categorizes your spending and recommends areas where you can save. Some of the areas I seem to be overspending is:
  • Grocery
  • Metro - Which I can't do anything about
  • Rent - again, i can't do anything about
  • Electricity
What sucks is that now that we want to really get serious about budgeting we also want a puppy, a new car and husband wants the palm pre. Sigh!
